Dr. Fitzgerald graduated from National College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2005.  In addition to running a private practice in Newtown, Connecticut she also works as faculty for the Institute of Functional Medicine’s Advanced Practice Module “Immune Dysfunction and Chronic Inflammation” as well as for Metametrix clinical laboratory.  She has written many publications including work as lead author and editor of Case Studies in Integrative and Functional Medicine. Dr. Fitzgerald will be discussing the topic: IMMUNE DYSREGULATION. She will be discussing immune system hyperactivation, leading to conditions such as autoimmunity or atopy, as well as immune suppression, which can be associated with conditions such as dysbiosis or chronic infections. In reality, most of our patients have elements of both sides of the continuum, and our treatment approach must modulate rather than suppress or promote an immune reaction. In this case-based, practical lecture, she will explore imbalances on both sides of the continuum.  She will discuss shared etiology, nutrition physical exam findings, laboratory evaluations, treatment interventionsand follow-up.

Dr. Bush graduated from National College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2000.  He currently holds the position of Director of Clinical Affairs for Neuroscience Inc. where he oversees the company’s NEI Nutrition division as well as testing and product development.  He also serves as the company speaker, educator and writer.  Dr. Bush has also written several publications ranging from such topics as insomnia to neuroimmunology.  Dr. Bush will be discussing how intestinal hyper-permeability is a root cause behind chronic inflammation in many patients presenting with symptoms ranging from GI pain, depression, hot flashes, and attention issues.  His lecture will detail the natural barriers of the GI tract, the changes that occur with intestinal hyper-permeability, and the brain-gut reactions lead to common patient presenting complaints. Some unique and traditional clinical approaches to addressing intestinal permeability will be outlined including: support for the body’s natural barriers of protection, reversing the intestinal damage, and strategies to addressing associated chronic inflammation.  This lecture will discuss: food sensitivity testing, elimination diets, mucous layer support, natural immune modulation, cellular repair, and microbiota recolonization

Dr. Noe has a private practice in Westerly, RI and was senior staff naturopathic physician at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America, in charge of naturopathic residents’ education, research and publication.  She has written numerous publications and is currently full time faculty, Assistant Professor at the University of Bridgeport, College of Naturopathic Medicine in both the basic and clinical sciences.   She will be discussing the most current naturopathic best practices used in integrative cancer care such as natural therapies to address side effects of conventional cancer treatments with chemo/radio specific recommendations.  Chemoresistance, increase cancer kill and long term strategies of the cancer survivor as well as the Spirit-Mind-Body connection in integrative cancer care will also be reviewed.

Dr. Henderson graduated from University of Bridgeport, College of Naturopathic Medicine, in 2007.   Since graduating she established a naturopathic practice called the Holistic Kidney, focusing on lifestyle modification, diet therapy, botanical medicine, nutraceutical and hydrotherapy for renal patients.  She is an expert in managing all stages of kidney disease.  Kidney patients have unique healthcare needs that vary from one stage of kidney disease to another.  Foods that promote kidney health will be discussed along with what foods should be avoided.  Reducing uremic toxicity will be addressed as well as the unique requirements of dialysis and transplant patients.
